What to Expect at Gynecology Specialists

Most patients are referred by their doctor to see us for expert care or opinions. We can also see some self referred patients. Please contact us for more information.

How to get an appointment:

Request a referral from your physician or call our office to request an appointment.

Once a request for an appointment is made, we get to work trying to obtain and review the pertinent medical records. While this may slow down the process, it is very important that we have all the tests needed to provide you with the best recommendations.

What we need:

  1. Current relevant medical records - any biopsies, ultrasounds, CT scans, and operative reports

  2. Current insurance card

  3. New patient forms

  4. An updated list of all your medications and allergies.

We request that you:

  1. Fill our new patient forms

  2. Be sure your insurance information is up to date.

  3. Arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment.

  4. Bring your insurance card and any applicable co-payment.

  5. Let us know as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel your appointment.

  6. Be patient with us - we value your time, but patient visits can be unpredictable. It is hard to estimate how much time each patient will actually need.

At your appointment:

  1. Consider bringing a support person with you to help you take in all the information.

  2. You will usually be seen by both our Nurse Practitioner and Physician

  3. You will usually have a physical exam, including a pelvic exam.

  4. If you are recommended to have surgery, we will be ready to look at dates to schedule so bring your calendar if you are ready.

Team Approach

At Gynecology Specialists, we believe in a team approach. Dr. Crowder and Nurse Practitioner Rachel have worked together exclusively since 2004. Many patient issues will be managed directly by either Rachel or another member of the team, with the supervision or guidance of Dr. Crowder. This allows us to provide expert, timely care to the greatest number of patients possible.
