Rachel Mallett, RN, FNP-BC, MSN

Rachel Mallett, RN, FNP-BC, MSN is a board-certified nurse practitioner who has been in practice since 2001 and worked with Dr. Crowder since 2004.

Rachel is passionate about offering support to patients undergoing a difficult time. She takes pride in her role which allows expert speciality care for more patients. She excels at providing post-operative care and cancer surveillance to patients. She also strives to teach women about their gynecologic health and help them to make good choices about their overall health.

In high school, Rachel excelled at sports, especially volleyball. Multiple injuries sidelined a planned college volleyball career, thus sparking an interest in healthcare. During her undergraduate nursing school at the University of Missouri-Columbia Sinclair School of Nursing, Rachel worked as a nurse’s aid to offset her college costs. She graduated magna cum laude in 2001 with a Bachelors of Nursing.

Rachel launched her nursing career at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. She worked on the oncology unit, administering chemotherapy to children with cancer and learning about the challenges families face when impacted with cancer. She found great fulfillment working in oncology, and sought a similar job when she relocated to Columbia.

Rachel began working with Dr. Crowder at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, where she ran the gynecologic oncology clinical trials research program. As a team, they were consistently the top recruiters to clinical trials at the cancer center. Rachel enjoyed working as part of a team, and her attention to detail for the research and chemotherapy patients were crucial to their success.

With their continued team approach, Rachel joined Dr. Crowder in the private practice setting. To broaden her education, Rachel returned to Sinclair School of Nursing at the University of Missouri to pursue her Nurse Practitioner degree. All this while working full time with Dr. Crowder and raising her family. Their team approach to provide specialty care for women transitioned to Rachel’s role as a nurse practitioner in 2015.

Rachel loves being able to educate patients about their diagnosis and help them to make good choices to strive for optimal health. She takes pride in providing services that help to streamline patients’ care and allow the team to serve as many patients as possible. Rachel has had extensive training and apprenticeship treating precancerous lesions and abnormal pap smears and abides by the ASCCP guidelines with consultation from Dr. Crowder as needed.

Rachel is married with two daughters. She loves watching them grow and take part in many different activities. Rachel also enjoys the outdoors, sports, and is active in her church.
